The essentials
Our indicators and strategies run inside NinjaTrader 8 on Windows 10 or 11. You'll want a stable internet connection for real-time market data and order execution, a DirectX 10-compatible graphics card (standard in most modern computers), and at least 4 GB of memory — though 8 GB is preferred, especially if you run multiple charts or an automated strategy.
Getting or updating NinjaTrader
NinjaTrader 8 is free to download and use for charting and simulated trading. If you don't have it yet — or you're on an older version — get the latest release from ninjatrader.com (opens in a new tab). We recommend staying on the current release so our tools run as intended.
Mac users
NinjaTrader 8 is a Windows application. If you're on a Mac, you can run it through a Windows environment (such as Parallels or Boot Camp) or on a Windows VPS. If you'd like a hand choosing a setup, just ask.
Running it 24/7
If you want an automated strategy to keep running when your computer is off, many traders use a VPS (a hosted Windows server). It's optional, but it keeps your platform online with a fast, always-on connection.
